62 Days and counting

Well everyone we are getting closer every day. A few questions for anyone out there who has been to NY and can help... Is it worth going to Staten Island??? Where would you go for breakfast? Where are the most important places to visit in Cenral Park? If there was one thing we COULD NOT MISS what would it be? Answers via the comment box please.

Day 1 - Sort of Planned

D and I have just spent the last 2 hours on skype trying to plan our itinerary. We have 6 days in New York and while that may sound like a lot, I am very aware of what we need to fit into these 6 days.

We now have a rough idea of what we'll be doing on Day 1 of our trip which just happens to be a Sunday.

We arrive late on Saturday night and unless we're feeling particularly wired we'll probably just want to get a drink, maybe something to eat and then crash. So the trip really starts on Sunday.

To get our bearings we've been advised to take in a river cruise around the island. We thought it might be a good idea to have a hearty breakfast to start the day (don't worry, we both have sea legs so the breakfast should not be seen again) so we're going to take a walk to Ellen's Stardust Diner on Broadway:

We've then opted for the Circle Line Sightseeing Cruise which is a 3 hour full island cruise. It takes in the following sights:

After the cruise we're going to take a leisurely stroll along The Highline, maybe with a picnic or maybe just to stroll.

At the end of The Highline we might stop into The Magnolia Bakery for a sweet treat or head over to The Strand Bookstore for a rare book. All this sounds like thirsty work to me so we may also head to Pete's Tavern while we're in the neighbourhood, one of the oldest bars in New York and also the location where Miranda proposed to Steve on Sex And The City.

So with Day 1 mostly fleshed out and initerised (I know it's not a word) I felt that we should celebrate by watching the opening scene of Woody Allen's Manhattan. Enjoy.

Bad Bloggers

Well what bad bloggers we are. We have not been on here for ages. Well we only have 103 days to go. Nearly into two digit figures!!!!! We have applied and got our ESTA's so thats all done. Now we need to think about dollars. Question: Where would you get your dollars from and why? Feel free to post. Dx

122 days and Kim Cat on TV

Hi All Well it's only 122 days and Kim is on the TV tonight in an episode of 'Who do you think you are?' so I hope you don't mind but I am just off to watch it. Dxx.x

Whooops!

Whoops! Thats all I can say. I was looking at Lady K's title and not actually at the countdown clock! Well isn't this exciting, our trip is sooner than I thought. Was talking it through tonight with my Mum and I can't believe we are actually going as it has been a long time in the planning. Bunk beds, subways, bagels and cupcakes here we come (well in 123/124 days!). Dxx.x

131 days to go?? According to who?

According to the countdown clock it's 124 days to go. Maybe time is moving faster on the clock than in the north of England as D's post suggests our trip is 7 days further away than the countdown says it is?? How strange. Looks like I need to give the SATC girl some blogging tips. Carrie Bradshaw would not approve! :0)
